A LITTLE HISTORY

Tumbleweeds are a natural site in the west. You can see them blowing along the desert plains all over New Mexico. Tumbleweeds are actually a Russian plant called the "Russian Thistle". They were brought to us by way of grain sacks from the Mongolia section of Russia. They flourish in dry and arid areas, even in poor soil conditions. They grow during the summer. In the fall they dry out and break off at the base and roll around with the wind. Tumbleweeds have been used as props for lots of western movies and TV shows.

Tumbleweeds are a perfect item for decorations around the house or just as a center piece on your coffee table. They will be sure to generate a lot of questions from friends and visitors.

Tumbleweeds make the perfect gift for that person who has everything.

Who Are We?

NM Tumbleweeds is a ministry of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Shepherd of the Hills is a small Lutheran Church and Christian Preschool, mission oriented to the glory of God.

Being a new and small church, the proceeds from the tumbleweed sales are used for several purposes. First, to help cover the financial obligation of day to day needs of the church and second, we plan on using proceeds for staff development and community social assistance.
